NFL 2022 CONFERENCE CHAMPION PREVIEW

NFL 2022 CONFERENCE CHAPIONSHIP PREVIEW

AFC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs

January 30, 2022, at 3:00 PM On CBS

The last they played was on January 2nd, 2022 Bengals beat the Chiefs 34-31 on the last-second field goal to win the game. QB Joe Burrow went Balistic throwing the ball all over the field as if the Cheifs secondary didn’t even exist. Joe Burrow threw for 30/39 for 446 yards and 4 TDs, while Ja’Marr Chase caught 11 passes for 266 yards and 3 TDs.

Both teams’ secondary are not very strong because they give up over 260 yards a game and would benefit Joe Burrow and Pat Mahomes who is the top quarterback in the league. Big Issue for the Bengals giving up to many sacks, which the Cheifs will try to blitz more often in the game. The Bengals are a better blitzing team than the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes can scramble very well by buying time or running the ball downfield.

Since the Chiefs got RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire back from the IR will be the key player in the running game. A successful running game will break the Bengals’ defense back because that would force them to blitz less in the game. This will take the pressure off the Mahomes passing game.

This is going to be high scoring game because both Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes destroy the secondary at will. Having said that, the team who can step up their running game will win the game. Bengals RB Joe Mixon has to step up his game against the Chiefs in order to have any chance of winning this game.

Prediction: Chiefs 31-28

NFC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles

January 30, 2022, at 6:30 PM On FOX

This will be the third time they meet this season as a west division foe. The 49ers won both games, but can they win for the third time, which historically is going to be difficult. The 49ers are riding on high tide winning 6 of their last 7 games. On the other hand, the Rams won 7 of their 8 games. this is really going to be a really competitive game because both teams smell blood to the trip of the Super Bowl.

This will be fun to watch the Defensive of the front seven units from both teams will try to dominate the opposing offensive line. Rams rank 6th against the run, compiles over 50 sacks this season, and +9 in takeaways. DE Aaron Donald the most fierce line in the league has 12 1/2 sacks and OLB Leonard Floyd has 9 1/2 sacks.  FS Taylor Rapp and CB Jalen Ramsey each have 4 interceptions of the 19 total. On the other side of the ball the 49ers MLB Fred Warner leading tackler on the team with 137 tackles. The three defense lines combined 28 of the 48 sacks the season are DE Nick Bosa (15 1/2) DE Arden Key (6 1/2) and Arik Armstead (6).

The Rams are a pass-happy team behind QB Matthew Stafford completed 67% of his for 4,886 yards and threw for 41 TDs and 17 interceptions. Matthew’s go-to receiver is WR Cooper Kupp having a pro bowl year caught 145 passes for 16 TD. The Rams going to have to step up their running game, which is not their strength begin to rank 25th worst rushing offense in the league. RB Cam Akers stepping in for RB Darrell Henderson on the IR list. In both losses, the Rams could not run the ball against the 49ers. The Rams must run the ball over 100 yards to beat the 49er’s stingy defense. The 49ers rely on a balanced offensive attack  QB Jimmy Garoppolo leading the way. Debo Samuels play both wide receiver and running back a combined total of 1,770 and 14 TDs. TE George Kittle is their go-to player on 3rd or 4th down situations.

Like I say, historically it is hard for any team to win 3 times against their opponent in a season. As a betting man, I would pick the Rams. Wait not so fast my friend, even though the 49ers playing on the Rams’ home field. I still believe the 49ers can win for the 3rd time this season and book a ticket to the  Super Bowl.

Prediction: 49ers 24-17

There you have it, Cheifs and 49ers are heading to the superbowl.
